Dog Agility Training
The club trains every Wednesday night at the Windsor Essex Therapeutic Riding Association. (WETRA) barn. These grounds enable us to provide an enclosed year round facility and spacious training area. When weather permits, we train outdoors.
Our club offers two levels of classes. Our beginners class offers handlers and dogs an introduction to the basic knowledge and skills required to participate in the sport of agility. Handlers develop a trust with their dog while working on leash and learning proper commands and body positions. Dog and handlers who successfully complete the beginner class may chose to continue to the intermediate level classes.
The intermediate classes are designed to allow handlers to work off leash with their dog to further the degree of difficulty of all obstacles. More advanced skills, such as weave poles are introduced. Registration for all classes are on a first come, first served basis.
To participate, your dog requires understanding of simple obedience commands such as: "heel, sit, stay and come" are mandatory. Dogs must be at least 10 months of age to avoid putting too much stress on developing joints and bones. Mature dogs must be of good health and active. All dogs must have proof of current vaccinations. Handlers must be mature enough to act responsibly.
It is your responsibility as a handler to have your dog under control at all times. You are also required to clean up after your dog whether it is inside or outside our facilities. There are no exceptions.
Experienced dog and handler teams with previous agility training, may be invited to play with us. For of fee of $10.00 per session, you can come and enjoy our facilities and equipment. We are committed to maintaining a positive and safe environment conducive to learning.
